luma

What is it:  Conflict zone occupied by Zairois + Codeco rebels. Inaccessible, bad dirt roads, no infrastructure and students were hauling jerrycans of water from a river when we arrived.
Who it serves: A traumatized community. Prior to our rain tanks many were blind from onchocerciasis (river blindness) by fetching water from the infectious banks of the Adhu river.
What's still needed: Beekeeping; Trees especially Eucalyptus; Coffee; Student Recreation

This Rain Tank, with its new indestructible foundation, supplies the running water within.

For mere firewood rebels leave stumps in their wake

We’re replacing the coffee’s beloved Eucalyptus

Arabica beans thrive here, but are missing their Eucalyptus partner, we must plant more!

Our first tree was planted here (Araucaria heterophylla) a beauty in no time in this magical soil
